The Smack Dabs

The 1930’s were the halcyon days for Swing music with bands like Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Jimmy Lunceford and the Dorsey Brothers but there were also hundreds of small, distinctive Swing combos that dominated the music market during the depth of the Great Depression. From Tiny Grimes, Billie Holliday and Fats Waller to vocal harmony groups including the Cats and the Fiddle, the Mills Brothers, the Ink Spots and the Spirits of Rhythm.

The Smack Dabs’ sound is influenced by this melange of musical styles with stunning instrumental configurations, improvisational vitality and a bit of risqué Blues swagger. Come celebrate the bawdy, joyous, inclusive character of this music dedicated to honoring those who made it great.
